19-year-old Mmesoma Ejikeme confess to forging her JAMB result

Story from Musa Sakinat Abubakar

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced on Saturday that they have been vindicated following the release of a report by an investigative commission set up by the Anambra State Government to examine allegations of fraud against student Mmesoma Ejikeme.

In the report published on Friday, the 19-year-old confessed to manipulating her 2023 UTME results, validating earlier claims made by JAMB.

JAMB had faced criticism after declaring Ejikeme a fraud last Sunday.

Responding to the commission’s report, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin stated, “The independent and impartial findings of this commission have vindicated the Board. It reinforces our unwavering stance that our system remains secure and cannot be compromised.

JAMB has spent years building a reputation for conducting credible examinations, and we cannot afford to fail the nation at this crucial stage of its development.”

JAMB emphasised that it will persist in its activities, while also urging Nigerians to celebrate Umeh Kamsiyochukwu for her outstanding achievement as the top scorer in the 2023 UTME.

“Despite the criticism from detractors, the Board remains steadfast and resolute in its mission to provide Nigeria with the best and most reliable assessments possible,” JAMB asserted, emphasizing their commitment to credible and fair evaluations.
