Restructuring: Northern Elders Attack Babangida, Atiku

Northern leaders on Tuesday attacked and disagreed with former Military Head of States, Ibrahim Babangida and Atiku Abubakar on the call for the restructuring of Nigeria and creation of state police.
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) stated that the call for restructuring was misplaced while former Governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa described the agitation as nebulous.
A former Presidential Adviser, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, urged Nigerians to be wary of apostles of restructuring as they have hidden agenda.
Recall that ex-military President Ibrahim Babangida and former vice President, Atiku Abubakar had joined others by supporting the call for restructuring of the country.
Babangida stated that restructuring has become a national appeal, whose time has come.
But, the Chairman of the ACF and former Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Coomasie, dismissed the call for restructuring in an interview with New Telegraph.
He rather believed that the problem with Nigeria stemmed from the leadership who are not fair and just to the people.
The former Police boss also vowed not to even support the call for a state police. He said: “I will never support state police. Can’t you see that some people are already talking about Biafra? I don’t think there is any need for restructuring.”
