From Junaid Jibril Maiva, Maiduguri.

The National Association Of Marghi Women Development has organised a peaceful protest in Maiduguri against Women that were abducted by Boko Haram along Damboa Biu Road last month.

The Protest led by the Association’s National President Dr Esther Mangzha witnessed participation from hundreds of the association’s members across the country.

Neptune Prime’s Correspondent who attended the protest in Maiduguri gathered that no fewer than sixteen women and children fainted during the protest.

Most of those who fainted are children of those abducted and those who lost their fathers as a result of the insurgency.

Briefing Newsmen shortly after the event, The National President Of the Association urged the government to intervene for the release of the women.

According to her, the women are mostly looking after their children who lost their fathers as a result of attacks from Boko Haram.

“The Government is doing well and even the Vice President has issued a statement and directed all stakeholders to work together for the release of the women,” she said.

Mangzha said there were eighteen women abducted at first, but that the number may have risen and was not sure of their number now.

Another member of the group, Comrade Lucy Dlama could not control her emotion but managed to send her message to all international and national communities to support them to help rescue the women she described as “innocent”

Neptune Prime was able to confirm that some of the women abducted are not Marghi by tribe.

The association was also at the resident of Late Manaja Mijinyawa, a University of Maiduguri lecturer who among others met their untimely death when Boko Haram attacked their convoy while on assignment in Chad Basin.
