FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The profligacy of Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi Governor, in Pictures

These are dozens of tricycles purchased by then Senator Atiku Bagudu with the intent to distribute them to the people of his constituency in Kebbi Central Senatorial zone. They were purchased and kept here in 2011, but instead of giving them out as planned they were parked and abandoned at a government owned open facility in Birnin Kebbi. They were exposed to all the elements like rains, heat, dust and vandalism.
Kebbi is one of Nigeria’s poorest states with the attendant joblessness, misery and squalor. The question to ask here is: what is the rationale of allowing these tricycles to waste when the only thing required, to ease the pain of some disadvantaged and vulnerable people, would have been to make a list of those in need of them and promptly distribute them?
Ironically, it is the same man that has not deemed it fit to empower his people with a mere directive to distribute these tricycles that has now become governor of the state. If he has failed to live up to expectation on issues as insignificant as this, what guarantee will you have that he will be above board as governor? What a country!
