PCNI Vice Chair Presents International Crisis Group Reports To The Public

The International Crisis Group has launched six reports on Boko Haram in Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad. The reports focus on the five million people affected by the humanitarian impact of the insurgency in the Lake Chad region. While presenting the reports to the public, the Vice Chairman of the Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative, Mr. Tijjani Tumsah, said the work of the International Crisis Group in the Lake Chad is very important in not only understanding the current status of the conflict but in also mitigating future crises. He urged the ICG to also track the drying of the Lake Chad and its ecological and economic impact as a driver of conflict. According to Nnamdi Obasi of the Crisis Group, the organization has more than twenty years of experience in working to prevent, manage and resolve deadly conflict. With expert analysts engaged directly with parties to conflicts, conducting research on the ground, sharing multiple perspectives and proposing practical policy solutions; while also working with heads of government, policymakers, media, civil society, and conflict actors themselves, serving as early warning systems for impending conflicts and opening paths to peace.
