Presidential committee assess security situation in parts of Borno

A Presidential Committee has assessed Security Situation in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

The Committee was led by Brigadier General Jok Myam. He said the purpose of their visit was to assess how best to reinforce Bama,

He said the purpose of their visit was to assess how best to reinforce Bama, Banki, Darajamal and Gulumba towns with a view to protecting the returnees.

The measure he explained will pave way for the communities to return to the towns and to ensure normal social and economic activities in the area.

In their separate remarks, DIG Taye Lakanu and Abdullahi Lapai who were also part of the delegation pledged to cooperate and support all security measures put in place to protect people of the area.

Responding, the Commander 21 Armoured Brigade Bama, Brigadier General GB Audu told the Committee that the Army has already embarked on rehabilitation of roads and clearing of side trees and night patrols.

He called for synergy between the Army, Police and Civil Defence towards providing effective security for the population.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Professor Babagana Umara Zulum said Borno State was grateful to the Federal Government for its commitment towards reconstruction and resettlement of the displaced communities.

The Commissioner called for the re-opening of Maiduguri Bama Roads and Banki Gwoza roads to enable people to have access to their localities.
