The Theater Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru has warned parents who “donate” or send their children to “hypocritical” leaders of Boko Haram for suicide missions to desist from the act.
The act is sometimes carried out under the guise of undergoing a religious cause or going for religious training with such leaders.
The Army General described it as a cowardly act and appealed to parents to desist or face the consequences.
General Attahiru gave the warning while briefing newsmen on Wednesday at the Theater command headquarters in Maiduguri on the successes recorded by the military in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the North East.
He said the Presidential directive to the Military hierarchy last month to move to Maiduguri, the epicenter of Boko Haram for review and proper execution of the counter insurgency operations have yielded fruitful results.
Attahiru said the strategic reviewed plans resulting from the presidential directive played a huge role in the counter insurgency successes recorded in the region.

According to him, within the last 30 days, 82 suspected Boko Haram members were killed in the operations while 4 soldiers lost their lives in the encounter with many others rescued.
Attahiru observed that the period under review witnessed intense suicide attacks, especially within the University community and environs.
He Noted that the successes recorded by the Theater command were as a result of the reviewed strategic plans and the establishment of three mobile strike teams equipped with modern fire arms despatched to strategic locations for quick response to distress calls across the North East.
While commending the troops and other sister security agencies involved in the counter insurgency operations, the Theater Commander also appealed to the General public to assist the military with useful information that could lead to arrest and clearance of the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists.
