Authorities in Barcelona say a suspect was killed and two others have been arrested following the attack on pedestrians in the popular Boqueria open-air market.

One of the vans involved in the deadly attack was reportedly rented by a man named Driss Oukabir. According to local media, Oukabir is a Spanish national of North African descent.
Catalonia’s regional president confirmed in a news conference that two people have been arrested and 80 people have been hospitalised.
On Twitter the Catalan police also said that a driver ran into two policemen at a Barcelona checkpoint earlier on Thursday.
The Boqueria is a popular spot frequented by tourists.
Police in Barcelona released a picture of the man who allegedly rented the van used in the attack.
