PCNI to Partner with media to promote North East development


The Presidential Committee on the North East (PCNI) says it will partner with key media including the NTA, to drive the development of the North East and get the needed attention from the international community to the plight of people in the region.
The Vice chairman, Mr. Tijjani Tumsah expressed the willingness of the PCNI to partner with the NTA and other media organizations when he received the DG of NTA Alhaji Yakubu Ibn Muhammed.
Tumsah expressed the willingness to undertake its mandate of advocacy to International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs), donor partners and the private sector to drive the rehabilitation of the North East.
He said that PCNI was particularly interested in shaping the narrative of the region in the light of on-going programmes on resilience, de-radicalization and countering violent extremism as enshrined in the Buhari Plan for the redevelopment of the North East.
On the heels of PCNI’s visit to the Federal Ministry of Information and other agencies for collaboration, Mr. Tumsah stated that PCNI will continue to interface with the NTA for the mutual benefit of both organizations.
In his remarks, the DG of NTA, Alhaji Yakubu ibn Mohammed said that the NTA’s mandate was to provide informative and qualitative reportage and added that the Federal Government’s achievements in degrading the insurgency and the resilience of affected communities are stories that need to be told to the world.
He also drew attention to the need to revamp the NTA stations in Yobe, Adamawa and Borno states through investment in hardware and infrastructure which will enable effective coverage of activities in these areas.
He assured the chairman of NTA’s commitment to serve the public better through its vast network coverage and qualitative programmes.
