The Borno State Deputy Governor Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa has commended the Nigerian Police Force Borno State in the fight against crime and other related offenses.
The Deputy Governor made the commendation when he received thirteen children rescued by the police after they were kidnapped by hoodlums in Miringa District of Biu Local Government.
He commended the parents of the kidnapped victims for reporting the incidence to security on time and called for more cooperation and support to security personnel.
Durkwa said the victims will soon be transported back to their communities and presented cash to them.
Earlier, the Borno commissioner of police Mr Damian Chukwu said the matter was reported and he directed a team to investigate.
“I personally directed a team of investigators which led to the arrest of five persons who made confessional statements that revealed the location where the abducted children were kept.”
According to him, the command with local hunters and vigilantes immediately swung into action near a village called Kamuya in Buni Yadi area of Yobe State.
The Police Commissioner said two hoodlums died on the spot while two AK 47 rifles were recovered and thirteen abducted persons were also rescued along Buratai axis.
He announced that the Police has in its custody, thirteen Boko Haram members who claimed to have repented in the spirit of operation safe corridor and surrendered to the police and will soon hand them to the Military.
