Educated youths in Northern Nigeria have been called upon to unite and move the region forward.
The call was made yesterday by the chairman of the Northern Youth Leadership Forum, Imran Jaafaru Jino, when he addressed newsmen in Kaduna.
He explained that the current leaders are gradually aging while the succession system is poor and discouraging giving room for the wrong people to take over the mantle of leadership in the country.
He added that this has become necessary in order to save the future generation who will suffer the repercussion of this negligence.
The youth advocate also expressed the need for the elites in the region to be proactive, while reminding them of the social responsibility of giving back to society.
“Let’s come together and bridge the gap and get rid of the hatred and dichotomy and set the region on the right tracks”, he stated.
Imran expressed the need for the rich in the region to also come together with viable projects to support the poor especially in fields of education and entrepreneurship.
He further expressed the need for the youths to come together such that they can influence the choice of leadership and even the selection processes within political parties in the interest of the North.
Imran also called upon the government to put in place a think tank of youths whose ideas could be harnessed, refined and implemented for the development of the country.
