Al Mustapha set to contest for Presidency

The former Chief Security Officer to late Head of State, Gen Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha has displayed interest to contest for the Presidency seat as his campaign poster for 2019 Presidential election has surfaced online.

He launched a new political party early this year.

Al-Mustapha who said he had no intention to venture into politics in 2013, announced officially in April that the party will be called Green Party of Nigeria (GPN).
“Finally, the real people’s Party has landed. Please give praise to our Creator for a rare beautiful gift to the people. The future is GPN and GPN is the Future”, Al-Mustapha said at the time.
The campaign poster reads: “Support Major Hamza Al-Mustapha for Nigerian President 2019, support Integrity + Selfless Services + Competence = A Better Nigeria”.
In 1993, Al-Mustapha was accused of the murder of Kudirat Abiola, the wife of late Chief Moshood Abiola
Al Mustapha was sentenced to face the hangman’s noose for his part in several killings during the Abacha regime. He “pleaded not guilty” and was sentenced to death in a ruling delivered by Justice Mojisola Dada of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, southwest Nigeria on January 30, 2012.
