Eleven suspected kidnappers and armed robbers known to terrorise travellers on the Birnin Gwari – Funtua, Birnin Gwari – Kaduna and Kaduna – Kano Highways have been arrested by Police.
The suspects who were caught in the act on the stated highway confessed to their crimes.
Police recovered three Ak47 Rifles, 72 round of AK 47 Ammunition, three locally made Guns, Cutlasses, Charms and Sticks.
Meanwhile, four victims comprising three men and a woman were rescued from the kidnappers’ den alive and unhurt during the operation without payment of ransom.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris appreciated members of the public for their support and reiterated the renewed commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to prevent and detect crimes throughout the country.
The suspects will be arraigned in court after investigations are concluded.
