40 Boko Haram members reached their finish line in September-Army

The Theater Commander Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Ibrahim Attahiru has disclosed that over 40  Boko Haram members were killed by the Army this month.

Major General Ibrahim Attahiru said another score of BokHaramam members also surrendered to the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole.

He was speaking during a monthly media briefing at the Command Headquarters in Maimalari Military Cantonment.

Part of the reason of Army succees in the North East region he said was as a result of support given by citizens.

He however urged the Public to always provide useful information to security officers.

While responding to questions from Journalists,  General Attahiru said no local Government in Borno is in under the hold of Boko haram.

He further urged members of the public to continue to be more security conscious and suggested the establishment of neighbourhood watch teams in remote villages and communities, markets, motor parks among others to monitor strange or suspicious persons and promptly pass information to security agencies.

According to him, The Boko Haram members are regularly changing their tactics to enable them sustain attacks on unsuspecting soft and vulnerable targets, hence the need for a community watch.

He stated that the use of bicycles and Digital Video Disks (DVD) to convey IED for suicide attacks are recent examples of some of these new techniques.

While he appreciated the larger members of the society for their continuous support in the fight against Boko Haram, General Attahiru said that there were some unscrupulous elements among the populace who are collaborating with Boko Haram, mostly for pecuniary gains at the expense of the safety of their loved ones.

“So, as you engage in your normal daily activities, be conscious of your environment. Remember, that security is everybody’s business and ‘when you see something and say something’ many lives and properties would be saved, he tasked communities.
