10 people have been arrested after a clash between farmers and herdsmen in Suru Local Government Area of Kebbi State left at least 14 settlements razed and animals killed.
The crisis started Monday when a dead body of a farmer was found near the Fulani settlements.
The kinsmen of the deceased then decided to lunch a reprisal attack on the Fulanis as they destroyed their houses and properties killing many animals.
The farmers were believed to have wrongly accused the herdsmen of killing their kinsman.
However, an autopsy carried out on the deceased farmer indicated that there was no evidence of trauma or sign of assault on the corpse as the man died of natural cause.
Governor of the state, Abubakar Bagudu and the state commissioner of Police, Kabiru Ibrahim had vowed that the culprits would be brought to justice.
The governor directed the relocation of the affected Fulanis to avoid further conflict.
” The government will support them with animals that were killed,” the governor announced.
However, the commissioner of Police stressed that there was no casualty as a result of the attack.
