Fika Emirate honours 3 illustrious sons

The Fika Emirate Council in Potiskum, Yobe State, has conferred traditional titles on three of its illustrious sons in recognition of their selfless service to the community and the nation.
In a statement signed by Ali Gimba Fika, Assistant Secretary of the Emirate, Air Commodore Ibrahim Alkali (rtd) is now the Dallatun Fika; Air Vice Marshal Alkali Mamu (rtd) is the Barden Fika and Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Bomoi, the Turakin Fika.
Among the traditional titles of the emirate, the Dallatu (Dalati) is the deputy to the Madaki (Tinja) who is the Prime Minister.
The Barde is a very senior title under Tinja Fuya (the Chief of Defence Staff). Barde is a commander and together with Moi Lumfuti are the lieutenants of the Tinja Fuya.
The Turaki is also a very senior position under Waziri who is the Vice President. The Turaki is third to the Waziri.

Ibrahim Alkali, born in 1940, was a Military Governor of Kwara State from October 1987 to December 1989 during the military regime of Major General Ibrahim Babangida. He attended Barewa College, Zaria. He was also honoured with the traditional title of Shettima of Igbaja Land by Oba Ahmed Awuni Arepo the third.

Alkali Mamu was born 56 years ago and attended Fika Secondary School. A Pilot with the Presidential Fleet for sixteen years, he at one time commanded the fleet. He retired from active service on October 1, 2016.
Ibrahim Bomoi, born February 10, 1960, attended Government College Maiduguri. He retired from the Federal Civil Service as the Director of Treasury, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
