Man United in Danger of Losing Identity

I was taken aback when Jose said in his press conference building up to the must-win encounter against Southampton that he “didn’t think” United will buy in January and expect two to three players in and the same number out come summer.

Prior to this shock revelation from José, the least I expected of the board is to sign two players in January to save our faltering season and a massive overhaul in the summer.

We are a club that needs at least a Right back with Valencia already 33, a central midfielder to replace Carrick who is retiring at the end of the season, a Right-winger to give us some sparks on the right wing.

In the current United squad today there is no genuine winger bar Martial who can also be argued to have started as a striker. Rashford fancy playing in the central forward position. Mata, Lingard, and Mkhi are all No. 10s and lack flair and pace of orthodox winger.

We could also do with a left back to back up the injury-prone Luke Shaw. And also attacking midfielder to reduce the creativity burden on Pogba. We have seen this season how uncreative and unimaginative this United side is without Pogba. Need also striker to replace Ibrahimovic and put Lukaku on his toes. In short six signings!

With City in unstoppable form, I expected Man United to show more ambition and be more ruthless in the Market. I can bet my last Kobo that city with all the quality and depth they have got will sign more than two players in the summer. They will only improve.

I was surprised also when José said United lack spending power to compete with City and needs patience and time. I’m sure the board will give him time. But will he have the patience to stay and play second best to City? I doubt. I see him eloping to PSG or any team where he will be fully backed in the market. I see Manchester United becoming Liverpool, reigning in the past glory.

And the joke all is on Glazers.
