The Ministers of Information, Lai Mohammed and Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau have said that the military and security agencies have commenced the rescue of 110 abducted Dapchi school girls by Boko Haram
last Monday.
Alhaji Lai led a Federal Government delegation to a meeting with Yobe State Government, the Dapchi Community leaders, security agencies, parents and guardians of the abducted college girls.
Dapchi is farming and herding community, 70 kilometres north of Damaturu, the state capital.
This was disclosed on Sunday in Dapchi in an interactive session with journalist, after the delegation met with parents, security agencies and members of the affected community.
He said the meeting established that Boko Haram insurgents attacked the school last Monday between 5.30pm and 8pm. “One hundred and ten students of the college were unaccounted for after the Monday attack. There were no loss of lives and property in the town,” he said.
He said far reaching measures have been arrived at, including the collaboration among governments, parents and the security agencies that have commenced the rescue mission.
His words: “The security agents have intensified their search to rescue the abducted 110 Dapchi school girls.
“No stone will be left upturned in the efforts to rescue the girls and account for every student being abducted by Boko Haram insurgents.
In his brief response, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam lamented why the army withdrew from Dapchi town; a week before the attack and abduction of innocent school girls.
He called for the recruitment of more hands to boost the personnel of the army to protect more lives and property in the state.
