The Minister of Science and Technology Dr. OgbonnayaOnu has said the Ministry will modernise the production process of the Benin art work so as to make it more efficient and cost-effective.
Speaking while inspecting the ancient Benin work of art at Benin museum in Benin on Friday, Dr. Onu emphasised the need for Nigeria to retrace her lost heritage through holistic education.
This, he added, was the reason the Buhari administration re-introduce history as part of the school curricula.
“There is no way you can really train somebody and call that person enlightened if the person does not know the Past” he added.
Dr. Onu further said, the Ministry was fully poised to move Nigeria in a new direction that would make the citizens to be more creative and self-reliant.
He appealed to the Edo state government to increase its investment in the production of art works to enable the artists reap maximum benefits and pass off the legacy to the coming generation.
With the application of Science, Technology and Innovation, Nigeria will produce what it needs, create more jobs, eliminate poverty and generate more wealth for her people, Dr. Onu added.
The Head of Department of Cultural Heritage and Art Exhibition,Mr. Ikhuehi Omonkhua who conducted the Minister round the various works of art called on Nigerians to stop hate speeches as Nigeria is a multi-ethnic society with similar culture and tradition.
He further said that unity and mutual understanding will promote the development of the country.
