Fulani herdsmen from Yobe may clash over the revocation of their grazing land in Fika Local Government area of Yobe State by the Chairman of the local government Alhaji Adamu Bazam.
The land has been in the government’s gazette since the 1960s as cattle route so that the Fulani will have good land for animal grazing.
A Fulani herdsman, Isa Adamu from Fika town, said that they have been enjoying this grazing land since the 1960s but the Chairman later claimed that the land belongs to him and he wants to farm on it this year and “now we don’t have any place for our animals to graze on”.
However, the Chairman told Neptune Prime that when he confirmed that crisis was brewing over the grazing reserve, he put on hold his desire to cultivate the land so that the Fulani herdsmen may come and graze their animals.
Investigations by our reporter reveals that community leaders have since taken the matter to the appropriate stakeholders in Damaturu, the state capital, all in an effort to avoid breakdown of law and order.
