Why gunmen killed 100 people in Sokoto, Adamawa and Taraba

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has attributed the recurring killings in most parts of the country to the failure of leadership, lamenting that the harvests of deaths were not what Nigerians voted for in 2015.
It will be recalled that gunmen on Monday and Tuesday, 9th and 10th of July, 2018, have killed at least one hundred people in Adamawa, Taraba and Sokoto Sates.
People were reported to have been killed in fresh attacks on Monday night in several border communities in Adamawa and Taraba states.
The attacks were reportedly carried out allegedly by Fulani militiamen targeting farming communities around Gojefa, Bujum Yashi, Bujum Waya, Sabonlayi and Bujum Kasuwa villages in the Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The sustained attacks in recent times, according to the Hamma Batta, Alhamdu Teneke, the traditional ruler of Demsa chiefdom, have resulted in most communities in the area abandoning farming. He said this development might lead to famine soon.
Confirming the recent attacks, the member representing Numan in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Sodomti Tayedi, said more than 50 people were feared killed in the wave of the recent attack.
In a related development, Suspected bandits on Tuesday stormed Tabbani village in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State, and killed a district head, Usman Mohammed, and 45 others.
Credible sources in the village told Neptune Prime that the gunmen set the village ablaze and shot sporadically at fleeing villagers.
Multiple sources, including the son of the slain district head, Aliyu Ibrahim, confirmed the attack, with others saying they counted 50 bodies at Gandi Hospital.
The spokesman for the Sokoto Police Command, Cordelia Nwawe, confirmed the attack but said the command could not ascertain the casualty figure at the moment.
