Five die in Plateau communal clash-police

Today Wednesday, the Plateau State Police Command confirmed the killing of five persons at a location behind Calvary Ministries Headquarters along Rukuba Barracks road in Jos.
This confirmation was made by the Command’s Spokesman, DSP Mathias Terna Tyopev.
In a statement, Tyopev said, “Yesterday (Tuesday) at about 20:30 hours, the Police Command received information that four people were attacked at (gravity) a popular place at Rafiki area of Rukuba road here in Jos.
“Immediate the information was received the Command mobilized operatives to move to the area, on arrival we discovered that four people lost their lives.”
The spokesman said further, “We discovered at the scene of incident some shells of ammunition and empty containers of this illicit drinks.
“We moved down and also discovered that another person also lost his life on the road, most probably he was coming back from somewhere and he was attacked and was killed in his vehicle.”
He said the corpses of the four persons were taken to the Bingham University Teaching Hospital, while that of the one killed in his vehicle was taken to Plateau Specialist Hospital, all in Jos.
“As I speak to you we have deployed our men there, to make sure that the road is not blocked, and the place is relatively peaceful and under control.
He also said “We are looking at a cult related issue, why, because at the scene of the incident, it’s a very difficult terrain for somebody to ordinarily go to, you will see that there are two tents in the place, probably occupied by these people that sell drugs, or other illicit drinks.”
He assured that investigation into what happened there has commence, and maintained that investigation will surely unravel what truly transpired in the area.
Neptune Prime gathered that the act was said to have been carried out by unknown gunmen.
Also, fillers from the community have it that the shooting started around 3pm on Tuesday 31/7/2018, which lasted up till 5:00pm, with no intervention from the security operatives even though there is a military task force (Operation Safe Haven) check point some meters away.
While a version has it that the act was carried out by suspected herdsmen; others claim it was a clash between two rival cult groups.
