The political thugs under the veil of Atiku supporters reportedly made attempts to cause trouble when Atiku submitted his nomination form.
At least four people were trampled on while another was beaten to stupor amid chaos at the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday.
The thugs were also reported to have tried forcing their entry into the headquarters to cause trouble when the security operatives stationed at the entry took charge of the situation.
It was further reported that the gunshots fired in the air were done to scare the thugs away from the PDP headquarters.
An eyewitness, who is also a supporter of the Presidential aspirant, spoke with Neptune Prime on how the incident started.
He said, “The fight started when some thugs with the APC posters attacked us along the Michael Okpara Street opposite the party secretariat.
“The APC supporters started singing songs against the supporters of the former Vice-President. The supporters of Atiku retaliated, before fight broke out.
Attempts by policemen to restore order worsened the already tense situation.
