Troops of the Nigerian Army, attached to 1 Division, have stormed three kidnappers’ camps in the Kamuku, Kidandan and Unguwar Maigwari areas of Kaduna State, during which they shot dead more than 10 gunmen.
According to the army, the operation started since last Monday and continued till Friday, with some of the kidnappers reportedly fleeing into the forests with gunshot injuries.
It was gathered that soldiers uncovered a camp in Kamuku, which was believed to be the operational base of the kidnappers and where they hid their victims.
A military source said, “At least 10 of the kidnappers were neutralised and the camp was destroyed.”
Our correspondent learnt that the operation in the Kidandan area was carried out with the assistance of the local vigilance group which identified the kidnappers’ camp.
The Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Muhammad Dole, on Sunday, confirmed the operations.
