Hajiya Zainab Gimba has emerged the winner of the federal house of representatives primary election held on Saturday in Borno state with 604 votes, defeating her opponent, Mai-Sharif Nur who polled 307.
Alhaji Abdulrazak polled 19 votes while Baba Mala Kaigama scored 3 and Sule Gambo 2 votes.
Alhaji Ahmed El-Marzuq, the chairman of the electoral committee who presided over the exercise, announced Gimba as the winner having scored the highest votes in the primaries.
El-Marzuq delcared that the contest, which was that of Gamboru Ngala, Bama, Kala-balge federal constituency was hitch free as well as free and fair.
Reacting, Gimba thanked her supporters for their resilience, effort and support toward giving her the opportunity to contest under the platform of the APC.
She said “I promise to justify the confidence you repose in me toward uplifting the living standard of our people. This election is not just about me but about all of us. I promise I will not fail you.”
Gimba also thanked Governor Kashim Shettima and the security agencies for providing adequate security during the primaries to ensure its success.
