The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Mai Mala Buni has been declared the winner of gubernatorial election of the party in Yobe state in a landslide victory, beating three others with a federal lawmaker being closest with 23 votes.
Announcing the result, the Election Committee Chairman, Umar Lawan Kareto, said that Mai Mala Buni polled 2,797 votes, beating his distant second, Sidi Karasuwa, a House of Representatives member who got 23 votes.
Umar Ali and Dr Aji Kolomi came third and fourth having got 8 and 4 votes respectively.
He said that the election was rancour free, transparent as it had followed all the rules and guidelines of the election as stipulated by the party’s constitution.
In his acceptance speech, the National Secretary described the election as ‘no victor, no vanquished’, insisting that he would work with the other contestants to ensure success of the party and Yobe state.
His distant second, Karasuwa, observed that winning primaries is not a victory in the general election, and therefore called for aggressive campaign across the state to ensure the party’s victory.
Also, the state Governor Ibrahim Gaidam commended the contestants for their maturity in the election and advised them to work together and maintain the party’s grip by ensuring victory everywhere in the state.
