The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yobe State chapter has accused members of the senatorial election panel of compromise, alleging that the primary election they claimed to have produced Mohammed Hassan was stage managed in his house.
The state chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Sani Inuwa Nguru, laid the accusation in a telephone interview to a report that 4 out 5 member of the PDP electoral panel declared Dambu winner of Yobe south senatorial ticket.
He said the Panel chairman, his secretary and the two other members who claimed to have conducted the primaries did not communicate their arrival to the party, or the two aspirants went on to boycott the designated election venue.
“As a chairman of election subcommittee, they did not submit the letter sent to us from the national headquarters and neither did they speak to any of the two aspirants, Adamu Maina waziri or Haruna Bawa waziri of change of arrangement from the original election venue,” he said.
He called on the national headquarters of the PDP to urgently investigate the panel members, punish and discard any report submitted to them in the interest of peace and justice in the state.
He said that two out of three aspirants conducted the primaries at the designated Muhammadu Idrissa cinema venue where PDP election have been taking place since its formation, only to read a report that another election was held and Senator Mohammed Hassan was declared winner.
“I want confirm to the world that the purported election by the corrupt panel members took place in Senator Mohammed Hassan’s house. Urgent action must be taken to save the party from avoidable mess that can ruin the chances of our dear party in the state” he said.
“Only one of them, Dr. Shettima, came to the venue and asked whether his colleagues have arrived. We waited for them up to 1:00pm but, none of them came. INEC officials were there, police were there, SSS were there, and agents of the three aspirants including Mohammed Hassan’s witnessed and signed the final election result sheet. The security operatives and INEC can all attest to it.
