The bail application filed by the counsel to leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El Zakzaky has been denied.
A Kaduna State High Court sitting in the state capital has denied the bail application filed by counsel to the leader of Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim El Zakzaky and his wife.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Gideon Kurada in his ruling on Wednesday, said the accused persons have not shown any substantial medical evidence to grant them bail in their written application.
The judge however ordered that the two accused persons should remain in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) throughout the period of their trial.
The matter has been adjourned to January 22, 2019, for accelerated hearing.
Before his appearance in court on Wednesday, the Kaduna State Police Command had restricted movement within Kaduna metropolis.
A press release signed by the police public relations officer DSP Yakubu Abubakar Sabo warned that the ban on all forms of demonstration or processions was still in full force.
The police further called on residents of the city to beware of their movements.
