Guru turn Guru-Guru (Popcorn), by Ismail Muhammad Bello

KARAMBANI

Just because I’m a medical student, they thought I’m amongst the best and should have the best of grades.😳
Unknowingly to them, the business here is just atypical. Because while they ironically strive to get As, their perceived guru, like a cyclothymic patient is really alternating between low normal and mild hypo. 🤷🏼‍♂ More intriguingly, he seems to find real solace in both circumstances as he has subconsciously accepted that he mustn’t pass highly always and in some cases, 48/100 is indeed a great result.
His greatest fears are the outright failed clinicals (FCs) and the so called irredeemable failure which can be astonishingly as high as 45/100 often. 😦Still unknown to them, he may be in 600L but the last time he may have shaken hands with an A grade was way back during their SSCE days. 😀
It may interest them to also discover that it is perfectly normal for the result of a moderately sized class to be released with no one having an A grade and the score ranging from 47-54 for instance.😎Equally, you may find a once upon a time secondary school guru getting kicked out at 200 level.😯
That’s medical school for you, where the mighty have fallen and are being humbled.👌🏽 A place likened to a military establishment in it’s mode of training.💪🏾 A place where discipline, humility and positive attitude towards learning are ranked way higher than one’s stuffs and pedigree. A place where fragile and feeble newbies are transformed to physically, emotionally and mentally matured warriors of diseases and infirmities.👨🏼‍⚕👩🏼‍⚕👨🏼‍⚕👩🏼‍⚕
