According to Wikipedia, Disabilities is an umbrella term, covering impairments, activity limitations, and participation restrictions. Impairment is a problem in body function or structure; an activity limitation is a difficulty encountered by an individual in executing a task or action; while a participation restriction is a problem experienced by an individual in involvement in life situations. Disability is thus not just a health problem. It is a complex phenomenon, reflecting the interaction between features of a person’s body and features of the society in which he or she lives.

Today all over the world there are two out of a family compound an handicap or physically challenged due to the increase in the rate of the causes of this ailment either by physical or natural disaster which cannot be over emphasized by the statistical record all over the world which makes every Third day of December International Day of Disabled Persons.

It has been a great issue in the world the little things the physically challenged lack due to their hierarchy in the society. Politically, they have been put at the back of the fence like they are not necessary in the political helm of the society. They do not receive national honors, political appointments and ambassadorial nominations because majority of people believe they will not be up and doing since they are not having  all it takes to render services.

Socially, The PWD have been seen as a mere agent of Number rather than Force of change, The rest of the World can agree with me that certain number of PWDs  were versatile, agile and Commanding in every social aspects of life.

Furthermore, it is evident enough that majority of physically challenged have put themselves in a state of absurdity by trying to get ends meet or survival from people through begging due to their nature in the environment. They will not strive for proper education and good skill to be dependent enough for their family and  social development of the country.

Conclusively, people with Disabilities need proper care and monitoring from their young age to maturity to increase the productivity and self development of this people to avert all unforeseen circumstances and to reduce the rate of poverty among PWDs in the country. I will urge the Government, NGOs and Philanthropic individuals to do more in providing help for them according to the convention on the right of people with Disabilities adopted in 2006 and PWDs should also see themselves as a great asset to the Nation’s Development.
