An Assistant Editor and North East Bureau Chief of the Premium Times online newspaper Abdulkareem Haruna, who was kidnapped on Monday, November 11, has been released by his abductors. Though traumatised, he is said to be doing fine.
Abdulkareem thanked all those who played key role in his release, saying he lacked words to express his gratitude. “I look forward to meeting my family after the horrendous experiences,” he said.
Haruna was reportedly abducted around 3pm when some gunmen intercepted the vehicle he boarded from Abuja. He was kidnapped along Bade- Jagindi road in Kaduna while on his way back to Maiduguri en route Bauchi from Abuja.
He was the only passenger abducted from the vehicle while driver took his belongings to the nearest police station and reported the crime. An undisclosed amount of money was paid before Haruna was released on Wednesday night.
Haruna wrote on his Facebook page: “God, I worship and glorify your holiness. Thanks for the gift of life.”Been through hell and out safely, all in thy name. Alhamdulillah.”
