Addressing corp members in the multipurpose hall of the orientation camp, Ekeocha urged them to participate actively both on camp and post-camp training in order to acquire skills that would engage them in productive self-employment and advised them from dependence on white-collar jobs.
He added that the financial independence Skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development has been described as the passport to self-reliance and financial independence for corps members during and after the service year.
He also charged them to be worthy ambassadors of their families, states and the NYSC by imbibing discipline, loyalty, and dedication among other qualities and avoid unnecessary journeys during the service year, especially at night.
“Embrace Taraba as your home and show respect for the norms and tradition of your respective host communities,” he said. The area coordinator who toured camp facilities alongside the state coordinator and other senior camp activities expressed satisfaction with the state of the camp and commended the state coordinator and entire camp management for a job well done so far.
The excited corp members who welcomed the August visitor with an entertaining dance performance also gave three hearty cheers salute to the area coordinator who held a meeting with camp officials after addressing them.
The Taraba state coordinator NYSC, Mrs. Yaakugh Florence highlighted achievements recorded under her administration to include, the recent purchase of over 100 plastic seats to complement the existing ones, maintenance and installation of new ceiling fans in corp members’ hostels’ construction and improvement of existing sewage facilities, among others. She concluded by soliciting all to make good use of the facilities.
