Zulai Daya, first female graduate of Yobe, dies today

Hajiya Zulai Daya, an educator known as an epitome of knowledge and truth, who made history as the first female graduate of Yobe (sharing the honour with Hajiya Hadiza Lavers), has died today at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital barely two months to her 75th birthday after a brief illness.

Hajiya Zulai Daya was born on the 1st of January 1945 in Daya, Fika Local Government area of Yobe State.

Hajiya Zulai Abdullahi Daya, the first female to go out of Daya village in quest of knowledge, retired from active service and was crowned with the prestigious title of Magaram of Daya.

She is survived by five children.
