Yobe Gov. suspends traditional ruler over sex allegation

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni suspended the ward head of Fannami Ward, Lawan Ari, in Gashua, Bade Local Government for allegedly raping a six-year-old boy.

The Commissioner for Information, Home Affairs and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, made this known in a statement released yesterday.

According to the statement, after the governor had been briefed about the case where a ward head was alleged to have committed rape against a six-year-old boy.

The governor had directed that appropriate administrative and legal measures are taken swiftly to investigate and prosecute the traditional suspect.

The traditional ruler, according to the statement, had been suspended pending the outcome of the police investigation on the matter and the victim had received medical attention.

“A letter to that effect has also been served to the traditional ruler by Bade local government council and the victim, has also been evacuated and treated by medical personal at the Gashua General Hospital.”
