Cristiano Ronaldo’s representative and compatriot, Jorge Mendes, said it was “unfair” that the Ballon d’Or was awarded to Leo Messi and not to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Jorge Mendes went to Atletico Madrid star, Joao Felix’s ceremony when he was given the Golden Boy award. After the act, where CR7’s agent was also awarded by ‘Tuttosport’ as best agent of the year, he gave his opinion on the Ballon d’Or won by Leo Messi.

“For me, it’s unfair. (Cristiano) won the League of Nations. He is a champion. But he knows what he has to do and we will see what happens in 2020,” he stated.

In fact, Mendes believes that the Portuguese, currently at Juventus, would have won the award if he had been playing for Real Madrid.

“Cristiano deserved to win the Ballon d’Or at least once in the last two years. If he had been playing in Madrid, he would have won the Ballon d’Or. But next year I think that he can win it again,” he defended.

Jorge Mendes made the most of the occasion to support his client, at a time where he seems to have come down from a throne which he has comfortably sat on for almost a decade.

“He arrived at Real Madrid in 2009, he went to Barcelona were the best team in history, with the structure of the Spanish national team. Spain were the world champions and had won the Euro twice. Cristiano changed everything.

“He won the Champions League four times, it’s impossible to compare a player like Cristiano,” he concluded.
