The Department of State Service (DSS) has invaded the Federal High Court in a controversial bid to rearrest Omoyele Sowore.

Earlier at Friday’s proceedings, the judge and the defense counsel had commended the DSS for complying with the court’s order.

Mr. Sowore was released after Ijeoma Ojukwu, the federal judge handling his treasonable felony trial, insisted that her November 6 order must be complied with and Mr. Sowore must be released from custody or senior officials of the DSS would be held in criminal contempt.

But shortly after the court clerk called the next case and people started leaving the courtrooms, DSS operatives numbering about 15 started making some moves towards Sowore and Bakare.

Already aware of the development, Sowore and Bakare turned back and made a fast pace back to the courtroom.

Mr. Sowore was held in the court with his lawyers and associates who had appeared in court for a fundamental rights enforcement hearing in the ongoing trial of Mr. Sowore and DSS disregard of court orders.

The development led to a commotion that forced the judge who was handling the next case to immediately suspend sitting and receded to her chambers.

Reacting to the development, Sowore said the DSS operatives who appeared to be laying an ambush for him ahead of the close of Friday’s proceedings were on the move to kill him.
