Boko Haram attack motorists in Yobe State

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have attacked motorists near Kaliyari, a community located 75 kilometres north from Damaturu the Yobe state capital and 30 kilometres to Dapchi where 110 schoolgirls were abducted in 2018.

This happened Friday at about 10:30 am, they blocked the road and asked motorists to present their ID cards.

It was gathered that the Boko Haram was looking for anybody carrying a government or related ID card.

The insurgents operated freely for about 2hrs and abducted some vigilante who ran into them while the operation was ongoing. They also went with the Hilux Van conveying the vigilante.

The Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, Sector 2 Operation Lafiya Dole, Lieutenant Chinonso Oteh that operatives of the army have been mobilized to the area, however, information on whether passengers have been abducted or not is still sketchy.
