Gov Darius Ishaku of Taraba on Thursday lauded the contributions of corps members posted to the state towards the development of the State.
Ishaku who was represented by the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr Ibrahim Imam disclosed this at the passing out ceremony of the 2019 NYSC Batch A corps members who completed their service year.
The governor, who appreciated the immense contributions of NYSC members to the development of the State, urged them to go on with the spirit in the wider society.
“I want to stress here that the task of nation building does not end with your service year. The tenets of integration you have imbibed during the service year should be a stepping stone in your quest to build a greater Nigeria.
“You are going into the wider society at a time our dear state is craving for development in all facets of her socioeconomic sphere, I, therefore, urge you to explore all possible avenues to contribute to Nigeria’s development,” he said.
Earlier, State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr David Markson commended the state government for the support given to NYSC in the State, he congratulated the outgoing corps members for the successful completion of the service year.
He enjoined the 988 corps members who successfully passed out of the scheme from Taraba to optimally utilize the entrepreneurship skills they acquired during their one year service to create jobs that can drive the economy.
Markson who commended the spirit of patriotism and dedication exhibited by the corps members said out 988, eight executed outstanding projects that merited the Governor’s award.
He noted that eight corps members got their service year extended for a period not more than one month for various offences.
