The Yobe Police Command on Tuesday flagged-off a campaign called ‘Mask for all’ to ensure all police personnel wears a face mask while in the public domain to contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the state.
The State Police Commissioner, Yahaya Sahabu made this known in Damaturu while addressing newsmen.
“You have been invited to witness the official flag-off of face mask for all campaign which is an initiative of Yobe State Policeolice Command.
“To ensure that every police officer in the state is wearing a face mask while in the public domain.
Sahabu said that would be applicable to all police officers in the headquarters and other police formations including divisions and outposts across the state.
“As a matter of fact, every serving police officer in Yobe state most from today henceforth wear his face mask.
“COVID-19 pandemic is a very serious problem, a serious danger to humanity so we have to stand up and fight it.
“Face mask for all campaign is not just for police personnel but for the entire citizens. We are making police headquarters as an example”, he said.
He also said such decision was in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive for mandatory wearing of face mask in the public places by all Nigerians in addition to our health measures.
Sahabu noted that the police tailoring unit had produced 1,500 pieces of face masks as the first batch for the police personnel and other 1,500 pieces would also be produced soon as the second batch.
“At the end of the day we want to make sure that all police personnel in Yobe, from constable up to the commissioner of police must be wearing face masks.”, he added.
