Alhaji (Hon) Sani Fema, a seasoned sports administrator and former Executive Board Member of the Nigerian Football Association, NFA, has been appointed by the Senate President Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan as his Special Assistant on Sports Development.
In a letter dated May 14, 2020, and signed by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mohammed Ataba Sani-Omolori, Fema’s appointment will take effect from the date of resumption.
The CNA congratulated Hon. Fema stating that his appointment is at the pleasure of the Senate President.
“Please accept my congratulations and best wishes on your appointment which is a testimony of the President of the Senate’s confidence and trust in you”, Sani-Omolori stated.
Alhaji Sani Fema was the Executive Chairman of Yobe State Sports Commission between 2007 and 2015 served also as the Chairman of the Yobe Deserts Football Club from 2001 to 2015.
Between 2004 and 2005, Honourable Fema was Governor Bukar Abba Ibrahim’s Special Adviser on Sports, a position he maintained when late Governor Mamman Ali was elected in 2005 until 2007.
Fema, who is currently the Vice-Chairman of Yobe Desert Football Club since was also an executive board member of the NFF in 2017.
Apart from his experience and exposure in sports administration and development, Alhaji Sani Fema who has been Chairman of his Fune (largest local government in Yobe by landmass) Local Government between 2001 and 2004 is one of the most politically aware and experienced youths from Yobe State.
Known for his fierce loyalty to his mentors, he was among the very few from the ruling government of Yobe State that went all out openly and unconditional to support the candidature of late Governor Mamman B. Ali.
It is believed that his experience, loyalty, go-getting spirit and grassroots network will be deployed to ease the work of the senate president in many areas apart from the sports sector.
