The Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Monday May 25, 2020, said the Yobe State International Airport is to be test landed on Friday.

Governor Buni disclosed this in Damaturu while he hosted Chief of Army Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

“The Damaturu International Airport will be test landed on Friday and we are going to provide Nigeria Air Force (NAF) quarters there as we have already promised.

“We are soon commencing on the quarters project and all other facilities will also be provided”.

Governor Buni added that such gesture would go a long way in addressing the problem we are facing in the region.

“This is quite reassuring and it is a clear sign that this madness called insurgency is coming to an end very soon.”

He also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his support and the military for their efforts.

In his remarks, the CAS, commended Governor Buni for being supportive of the military.

“I am very excited that Governor Mai Mala Buni has been supportive to the air force and provided additional land area that we are putting down certain facilities that will no doubt add a lot of value to what we are doing.”

Abubakar also expressed his confidence to address the insecurity in the state with the facilities in place.

“I am very confident with what we have here, it is going to be much easier for the air force to respond to any threats within Yobe state rather than going to Maiduguri and coming back.

“We can now operate from Damaturu which is very exciting for us indeed and to our comrades that are fighting on land as well.”, Abubakar added.
