The Yobe state government through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has on 13th June, 2020, flagged off the distribution of relief materials to hundreds victims of windstorm across some local governments of the state, in Damaturu.
The flagging off ceremony took place in Damaturu the state capital of Yobe state and was led by the Executive Secretary of SEMA, Dr. Mohammed Goje.
Dr. Goje said, the distribution of the relief materials is in line with the directives ordered by His Excellency, Honourable Mai Mala Buni as a succour to those affected by the Windstorm.
The Agency was earlier directed by the Governor to ensure that those affected by the windstorm are supported within the available resources on time.
The heavy Windstorm affected 8 LGAs on 8th and 10th of June 2020.
Over 450HH were affected and 8 persons died as a result of the Windstorm.
SEMA conducted assessments taking details of damage and ensuring victims are registered at the door step of the affected Houses.
The Executive Secretary assured the victims of Governor Buni’s determination to support them during this trying moments and within available resources.
Items supplied to the victims include:
1. Bags of cements
2. Bundles of roofing sheets (Zinc)
4. Nylon Mats
5. Women/Men brocade
