Gunmen kidnap Lagos – Abuja bound passengers

9 passengers who were aboard a Toyota Sienna space bus have been reportedly kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

The incident, which occurred along lsua highway in Akoko South East area of Ondo State, according to sources, occurred as the passengers that were travelling from Abuja to Lagos, were abducted by the suspected herdsmen.

Their bus was stopped as the suspected herdsmen laid ambush on the highway, and they were marched into the bush by their abductors afterwards.

It was reliably gathered that the families of the victims have been contacted by the abductors and a ransom was demanded from them in a bid to release the abducted persons.

When contacted, the state police spokesperson, Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident and added that one of the abducted persons has been rescued by officers of the command.

He assured that the command will keep working in other to ensure that the remaining victims are released, as a collaboration with hunters, local vigilante and other agencies to effect the release of the victims is ongoing.
