The Police in Rivers State has declared the revelation of a soakaway filled up with around 40 dead bodies at a house along Jesus Avenue, Umuebule One, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The suspected killer and owner of the premises where the dead bodies were discovered is a trader at Ogbunabali Road, Port Harcourt City.
The suspect, identified as Anthony Ndubuisi, who hails from Imo State is a father of four children and live in an expansive land where he claims to be a dealer in shoes in the Oil Mill Market in Port Harcourt, as well as also practising shoe-making. He was paraded before journalists in his home in Igbo-Etche.
He confessed to the heinous crimes and also disclosed that he has since abducted and killed four victims since he started the trade in February this year.
According to security courses, the discovery was made when a trader in Aba, in Abia State, left the address and phone number of the suspect with his wife, upon departure, on an invitation, to collect the sum of N500,000, being the cost of goods he supplied to the suspect on credit, at his (suspect’s) house.
The wife of the victim was said to have reported to the Police after waiting for two days without her husband returning home, and the Police quickly went into an investigation of the matter.
On interrogation, the suspect took the Police to his house where five fresh dead bodies were recovered from a 20ft soakaway exclusively dug for the dumping of dead bodies.
The pit which was said to have been dug in 2016, has about 15 more corpses yet to be recovered.
While the wife of the suspect has since abandoned her four children and ran away, two grown-up children of the suspect have also taken to their heels.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, told journalists at the scene of the crime that the breakthrough that led to arresting him was “through intelligence tracking policing. We were able to get him. He is a blood-thirsty serial killer who we believe is not working alone.
“The serial killer demands and collects ransom but still kills his victims. He is yet to disclose the amount of ransom he collects. We believe that he is not acting alone. We will track his accomplices. He is a father of four, three girls and one boy”, Mukan said.
