The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old resident of Jambutu Aso Rock in Yola north local government of Adamawa State, Moses Bukar, for defiling a 2-year-old baby.
A statement by the image-maker of Adamawa State police command, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje said: “On the 28/7/2020 the suspect whose shop is neighbouring with that of the victim’s mother took her into a Bekaji primary school with the pretence of being a good neighbour and had carnal knowledge of her.
“The mother immediately noticed the swollen private part of her baby and immediately reported to police which resulted in his arrest and he confessed.
“The victim is now undergoing medical screenings while the suspect is taken into custody for investigation and prosecution.
“The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adeyanju commended members of the public especially those that keyed into the fight against sexual violence against women and children and call on parents/guardians to closely monitor their wards and equally sensitise them to keep a distance from people of such character.
“The command further assures all of it’s commitment to protecting lives and properties and calls on people to continue reporting to police any suspicious movement around them,” the statement said.
