55 year old man drowns while rescuing sheep from well

Residents of Sha’iskawa village, Dambatta local government area of Kano State were thrown into mourning on Tuesday when a 55-year-old man, identified as Abdulhamid Muhammad died while rescuing his sheep from a well.

Saidu Muhammed, the Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, told reporters in Kano that the victim was rescued and rushed to the Dambatta General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Muhammed said, “we received a distress call at about 04:37am at our Dambatta Fire Station, from one Ummi Muhammad in Sha’iskawa village, Dambatta Local government area notifying us of the incident.

The Fire service image maker explained that “upon receiving the information, we dispatched our team who discovered that it was a 55 year-old man, Abdulhamid Muhammad who fell inside a well.”

He revealed that “the incident happened when he was trying to rescue his sheep that fell inside the well.”

Saidu Muhammed disclosed that “we rescued the victim and took him to Dambatta General Hospital where he was confirmed dead by the physician.”

Muhammed therefore cautioned citizens to stop exposing themselves to danger, even as he called on residents to inform the brigade in case of any incidents”.
