The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested a Fagge Ward Head, Fagge Commander of Hisbah, and one Mrs Loveth for allegedly trafficking a one-year-old lad from Kano state to Imo state.

The Kano Zonal Commandant of the Agency, Shehu Umar, told newsmen in Kano that the lad who was allegedly sold to Mrs Loveth by the duo of Hisbah Chief and the Fagge ward head has been rescued.

Umar explained that NAPTIP has also taken into custody Mrs Loveth’s mother who took custody of the stolen boy in Imo.

Shehu said they are investigating two things: illegal adoption and sale of a baby boy, adding that “we hope to round up our investigation very soon.“

He said, “right now three persons, the Hisbah Commander, the Ward head and Mrs Loveth are the prime suspects, while Loveth’s mother was detained for taking into her care the stolen boy”.

The NAPTIP boss said “we have quizzed the trio of the Hisbah Commander in Fagge local government, the Ward Head and Mrs Loveth to ascertain their level of complicity.

Umar stated that the case at hand attracts five year-imprisonment and a fine of N2 million, but all the parties have been granted bail and the state implementation committee on missing persons, headed by Justice Wada Rano has been brought into the matter.
