Yobe partners Nexim bank to export sesame seeds

The Executive Governor of Yobe State Hon. Mai Mala Buni has approved a partnership deal with NEXIM Bank, under the state export development facility for the establishment of sesame seeds processing plant and gypsum plasterboard production plant in Damaturu, Yobe State.

The delegation led by Hon. Barma Shettima, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Tourism signed the MoU at NEXIM Bank Headquarters, Abuja.

In his remarks at the occasion, Hon Barma Shettima pointed out that the State has a comparative advantage in agro-allied and vast deposits of high premium solid minerals; as such Government is determined to exploit these potentials through value addition industrialization and export promotion starting with Sesame Seeds and Gypsum Products.

He further stated that the expected socio-economic impacts of this initiative would include job creation, reduction in youths’ restiveness, empowerment of farmers in Yobe State, increase foreign exchange earnings and enhancement of non-oil revenues among others.

The government will organize interaction forums to sensitize potential beneficiaries in the State to take advantage of financial and technical supports under the MoU.

Reacting to the partnership deal Abubakar Abba Bello, the Managing Director/CEO of Nexim Bank, noted the partnership couldn’t have come at a better time than now when the State Government have successfully resuscitated most of the ailing industries, thus synergizing for rapid economic transformation in the State. He noted that Yobe is first among the North-East States to enter into MoU with Nexim Bank for Export Development.

Also, Hon. Stella Okotete, the Executive Director of Business Development of Nexim Bank, while shading more light on the State Export Development Facility Operating Guidelines called on the Private Sector in Yobe State, entrepreneurs, youths and particularly women to avail themselves with the ample opportunities under this MoU to either start or grow their businesses to greater heights.
