Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has commissioned a new office complex for Tukur Butarai Institute of War and Peace.

The event took place in Buratai Town Biu Local Government Area of Borno state.

Speaking at the event shortly before the commissioning, Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum said the State Government will continue to support the Nigerian Army in its efforts to rid the state and the region out of insecurity.

He said the establishment of Buratai Institute for War and Peace is a welcome development, pointing out that it will serve as a research centre on how to improve security in the country.

The Governor used the medium to appreciate the sacrifice of the Galant troops in their quest to restore peace in the North East and the country at large.

Earlier in his address, the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai said the institute will serve as a reservoir of the knowledge base on research on current issues.

Buratai who reiterated the commitment of the Nigerian Army to end insecurity across the country also appreciates the support of other Security agencies and people of local communities which led to the remarkable successes recorded in the fight against insurgency in the North East.

The Chief of Army Staff further noted that the institute has six centres which include a centre for Research and Documentation, Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency, Cyber Security, Strategic Communication, Training and Centre for Museum and Achieves.

He added that apart from the office complex, the centre has been provided with Staff quarters.

Dignitaries that attended the event include the Deputy Governor Borno state, Emir of Biu, Vice-Chancellor Nigerian Army University Biu, Professor Kyari Muhammad, heads of military and other Security formations among others.

The event featured symbolic commissioning of the new office complex for Buratai Institute of War and Peace by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum flanked by the Chief of Army Staff, traditional Dancing, and lectures.
