Kano Emirate suspends Ward Head, Ya’u, over sale of boy for N20,000

The Kano Emirate Council on Tuesday evening suspended Ya’u Mohammad, the Ward Head of Sabon Gari, Fagge Local Council of the state over his alleged involvement in child trafficking.

NAPTIP had announced that it was investigating Malam Ya’u alongside the Fagge Hisbah commander, Jamilu Yusuf for allegedly selling a baby to one Mrs Loveth at N20,000.

Muhammad Umar, the Secretary to the Galadiman Kano, Abbas Sunusi, told newsmen in Kano that the suspension of the traditional ruler was to pave way for robust investigation by relevant agencies.

Mr Umar said that Malam Ya’u would remain suspended from office pending the outcome of an investigation by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
